Crafty Podcasts
Diane Gilleland of CraftyPod and Jennifer Ackerman-Haywood of CraftySanity, who both produce excellent podcasts about all things craft, have done a pretty crafty thing with their latest shows: they interviewed each other, and then each developed their own unique show based on the same recorded interview. A wonderful experiment, a way to highlight similarities and differences, and just a fun thing to do with this new and fresh and wide-open podcasting medium.
I've had the good fortune of being interviewed by both Diane and Jennifer, and I'm a fan of both their shows. I've found out about some really cool project-makers through their podcasts, and it's always so cool to hear the artists talking about their work, sharing their ideas and influences, telling anecdotes and other surprising bits of information.
I also wanted to mention that I've had the good fortune of working with Diane on a podcast launched at HarperPerennial, one of the imprints I work on at my HarperCollins day job. She's done a wonderful job interviewing some fantastic authors, and I hope you'll give the HarperPerennial podcast a listen. I especially enjoyed the interview she did with Rene Steinke, author of Holy Skirts, a novel about the Baroness Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven. The podcast got me to pick up the book, which I really dug, and my interest continues to grow: I'm now reading Irene Gammel's biography on the Baroness.
